چکیده

The mechanism of pile-soil reaction in frozen ground is not clear at present, but it obvious that the reduction dead weight will be beneficial to seismic resistance bridges. In view limited bridge engineering practice high risk permafrost regions, paper addressed structural performance superstructure and its effect on piles these special regions. Four superstructures with different weights were compared, bored designed. Numerical simulations implemented investigate refreezing time pile foundation. concrete cooled rapidly first two days. times GFRP, prestressed T-girder, integrated composite girder, MVFT girder 15d, 37d, 39d, 179d, respectively. a same soil layer mainly affected by pile’s diameter, significantly correlated square diameter. It reflects selection region very important, which has been ignored previous studies. length diameter lighter can shorter smaller reduce alleviate thermal disturbance. Probabilistic Evaluation of Seismic Performance of RC Bridges in Iran

Many existing bridges were designed without adequate consideration of seismic risk. The full or partial collapse of even one major bridge in a city or community would have destroying results. There has been focuses on developing fragility-based seismic vulnerability of existing usual bridges in Iran or support decision making on seismic upgrade. This article focuses on developing performance b...

Bridges Risk Analysis in View of Repair and Maintenance by Multi Criteria Decision Making Method (Case Study: Babolsar Bridges)

Bridges built from any material and having any special shape  will eventually show signs of wearing off; therefore, there are several factors in the kind and rate of such wearing off and its expansion such as atmosphere, flood, earthquake, overload, design quality, execution and kind of materials that will all reduce the functionality of the structures. Thus, maintaining processes and repairing...

Building Bridges Between Convex Regions

In the Euclidean traveling salesman and buyers problem (TSBP), we are given a set of convex regions in d-dimensional space, and we wish to nd a minimum-cost tour that visits all the regions. The cost of a tour depends on the length of the tour itself and on the distance that buyers within each region need to travel to meet the salesman. We show that constantfactor approximations to the TSBP and...

Report from the International Permafrost Association: carbon pools in permafrost regions

The IPA Carbon Pools in Permafrost Regions (CAPP) Project started in 2005, with endorsement of the Earth System Science Partnership (EESP) Global Carbon Project and the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Climate and Cryosphere Project. CAPP is also a project of the IPY. The project was launched because there is considerable concern and increased awareness both within the international scie...

Structural Seismic Performance Evaluation of Highway Bridges Based on Vibration Measurements

This paper represents the first effort in seismic fragility analysis of a structure using a structural analysis model developed on the basis of measured vibration data. An instrumented highway bridge is used to demonstrate the analysis procedure involving measuring ambient vibration, identifying modal parameters from the measured data, updating a preliminary FE model (obtained from structural d...
